Chandigarh: Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in a special way at Shri Hanumant Dham in Sector 40-B, Chandigarh, where women tied an over 11-foot-long rakhi to a 32-foot-tall idol of Veer Hanuman.

The giant rakhi was made using eco-friendly materials. During the ceremony, women sang devotional praises in honour of Lord Hanuman.

Rakhi Prepared Over 10 Days

Women associated with Shri Hanumant Dham had been working on the giant rakhi for the past 10 days. Different women prepared separate portions of the rakhi, which were later assembled to give it its final shape.

The rakhi was completed by Wednesday evening and was subsequently tied to the Hanuman idol on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Women Consider Hanuman Their Brother

Shri Hanumant Dham president Neena Tiwari said that women associated with the temple prepare a special rakhi for Veer Hanuman every year, considering him their brother.

This year too, women came together to prepare the over 11-foot-long rakhi and tied it to the idol as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
