Chandigarh Janmashtami 2026: Chaitanya Gaudiya Math to Showcase Grand Jhankis
Chandigarh: Preparations for the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations have been completed at Shri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math in Sector 20, Chandigarh. This year, the celebrations will feature several grand and attractive displays depicting the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna, along with other religious and mythological episodes.
According to Math spokesperson Jai Prakash Gupta, Shri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math has been organising grand Janmashtami celebrations for several years, attracting a large number of devotees every year.
Grand Jhanki Featuring Around 55 Idols
A special grand Jhanki featuring around 55 idols has been prepared for this year’s celebrations. The display will showcase various episodes associated with Lord Krishna’s childhood and other religious themes.
The organisers have also incorporated modern technology into the celebrations to make the presentations more engaging and visually appealing for devotees.
Draupadi Cheerharan to Be Presented With Light and Sound
One of the major attractions will be a special presentation of the Mahabharata episode of Draupadi Cheerharan. The six-minute presentation will use modern light and sound technology to depict the episode before devotees.
The organisers have prepared the presentation using modern techniques to provide visitors with an immersive experience of the well-known episode from the Mahabharata.
Baba Barfani Cave Replica to Be Another Attraction
Devotees will also get to see a replica of Baba Barfani’s cave at the venue. The cave, which is being prepared using slabs of ice, will be around eight feet high.
The temperature inside the cave will be maintained at around 16 degrees Celsius, giving visitors an experience similar to that of an ice cave.
Lanka Dahan to Be Showcased Using AI
Artificial intelligence technology will also be used in one of the special displays. The Lanka Dahan scene will be presented using AI-based technology, combining traditional religious themes with modern presentation techniques.
The use of technology is expected to make the Jhankis a special attraction during this year’s Janmashtami celebrations.
Large Fair Expected in Sector 20
According to the Math management, a large fair is also organised in Sector 20 on the occasion of Janmashtami. As a result, the entire area witnesses a significant gathering of devotees and visitors.
A large turnout is expected this year as well, with preparations completed for the celebrations and the special displays.
Jhankis to Be Inaugurated on Thursday
The special Jhankis will be inaugurated on Thursday at 4 pm by senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon at Shri Chaitanya Gaudiya Math in Sector 20.
With religious displays, light and sound presentations and the use of modern technology, the Janmashtami celebrations at the Math are expected to attract a large number of devotees.
