Dark Circles: Know the Causes and Easy Ways to Reduce Them

Dark Circles can be linked to poor sleep, stress and tiredness. Know simple skincare and lifestyle tips that may help reduce under-eye dark circles.

Dark Circles: Know the Causes and Easy Ways to Reduce Them

Dark circles under the eyes have become a common concern for many people. Lack of sleep, stress, tiredness, poor diet and an irregular daily routine can make the area around the eyes appear darker.

In some cases, hormonal changes may also contribute to under-eye pigmentation. Poor skincare habits, including sleeping without removing makeup, can further affect the delicate skin around the eyes.

What Causes Dark Circles?

Staying awake late at night and not getting enough sleep can make dark circles more noticeable. Stress and excessive tiredness may also affect the appearance of the skin.

Excessive consumption of tea and coffee, along with sleeping with makeup on, may contribute to skin-related concerns around the eyes.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy and menstruation can also be associated with changes in the appearance of the skin, including the under-eye area.

Simple Tips to Care for Under-Eye Skin

Removing makeup before going to bed is an important part of a regular skincare routine. A cotton pad soaked in rose water can be placed gently over closed eyes for a short period.

Some people also use cooled green tea bags over the eyes for 5-10 minutes as a soothing home-care method.

Getting adequate sleep is equally important. Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule and aim for around 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

A balanced diet containing green vegetables, pulses, grains and other nutritious foods can also support overall skin health. Regular yoga and a healthy daily routine may further help with general wellbeing.

Note: Home remedies may not produce the same results for everyone. If dark circles persist, worsen suddenly or are accompanied by other symptoms, consider consulting a dermatologist.
