Gangstran Te Vaar Enters Day 213, Punjab Police Intensifies Action Against Gangsters

Chandigarh, August 21: As the decisive Gangstran Te Vaar campaign entered its 213th day, Punjab Police conducted 648 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state.

The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been conducting special operations against gangster networks and their associates.

On Day 213, police teams arrested 424 individuals and recovered seven weapons, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 63,065.

Apart from the arrests, preventive action was taken against 226 individuals, while 12 Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were also arrested during the operation.

Anonymous Anti-Gangster Helpline Available

Punjab Police has urged people to share information related to wanted criminals, gangsters, crime and criminal activities.

Citizens can provide information anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline Number 93946-93946, enabling the police to take timely action against criminal networks.

Yudh Nashian Virudh: 52 Drug Smugglers Arrested

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police continued its anti-drug drive Yudh Nashian Virudh, which entered its 538th day.

On Friday, police arrested 52 drug smugglers and recovered 6.2 kg of heroin, 50 grams of opium, 150 intoxicant pills and ₹4,900 in drug money from their possession.

With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 76,253 in 538 days.

As part of the de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded nine individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.

The twin campaigns—Gangstran Te Vaar and Yudh Nashian Virudh—continue to focus on dismantling criminal and drug networks while encouraging public participation and rehabilitation to build a safer and drug-free Punjab.
