Gold Jewellery Missing from PNB Locker
Chandigarh: Gold jewellery worth around Rs 50 lakh has reportedly gone missing from a locker at Punjab National Bank’s Sector 11 branch. Retired IFS officer Sultan Singh, a Sector 12 resident, has filed a complaint at the Sector 10 police post.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation. The complainant has raised suspicion on bank employees or others who may have had access to the locker.
Locker Held Since 1993
According to the complaint, Sultan Singh and his wife Sunita Devi had a locker at the Oriental Bank of Commerce branch in Sector 11 since 1993. The branch later came under Punjab National Bank following the merger.
The locker contained around 34.5 tolas of gold jewellery belonging to Sunita Devi. The jewellery included three gold sets weighing 10, 8 and 6 tolas, along with earrings, another 6-tola gold set, a 1.5-tola men's ring and a 3-tola gold set.
Jewellery Was Safe in 2019
The family stated that the jewellery was safe in the locker in 2019. It was later found missing when the locker contents were checked.
Police are now investigating when the jewellery went missing and who had access to the locker.
