Chandigarh, July 10, 2026:

The Department of Environment Studies, in collaboration with the Environment Awareness Society, Dharni, and the NSS Unit of Postgraduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, celebrated Van Mahotsav on 10 July 2026 with great enthusiasm to promote environmental awareness and encourage tree plantation.

As part of the celebrations, a tree plantation drive was organized on the college campus, where faculty members, non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers enthusiastically planted saplings and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation.

Addressing the gathering, Principal, Professor (Dr.) Nisha Agarwal, highlighted the indispensable role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, mitigating climate change, and ensuring a healthy environment. She urged everyone to plant and nurture trees and to adopt sustainable practices that contribute towards a greener and more resilient future.

The programme was organized by Dr. Ritu Sarsoha, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, Dr. Manisha Gaur, and Dr. Kulvinder Singh, who encouraged participants to embrace eco-friendly practices and take collective responsibility for protecting the environment by caring for the newly planted saplings.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge to protect the environment, promote afforestation, conserve natural resources, and spread awareness about the importance of preserving nature for future generations.
