India Summons Pakistan Envoy Over Ferozepur Border Incident, Rejects Allegations
New Delhi: India has lodged a strong diplomatic protest with Pakistan over what it described as continued facilitation of illegal cross-border infiltration. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission and rejected Islamabad’s allegations regarding the October 2 incident in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector.According to the MEA, three individuals entered Indian territory and continued moving towards the border fence despite repeated warnings from the Border Security Force to return to Pakistan. The ministry said the BSF was compelled to engage them after they posed an imminent security threat. Pakistan has disputed India’s account and separately protested the deaths of two men in the incident.India said the incident reflects what it described as a recurring pattern of cross-border movement by armed narcotics syndicates operating from Pakistan. New Delhi urged Islamabad to investigate alleged infiltration and drug-smuggling activities and examine the alleged involvement of Pakistani border-guarding forces. The MEA also called on Pakistan to respect the sanctity of the International Border, adhere to relevant bilateral arrangements and ensure effective control from its side to prevent unauthorised movement
