Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan Season 4: Torch Relay Gets Grand Welcome in SBS Nagar
SBS Nagar, August 20: The torch relay, or Mashal March, for the upcoming Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan Season 4, 2026 received a grand welcome upon reaching Balachaur in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district on Thursday.
The torch arrived from neighbouring Roopnagar district and was welcomed by Balachaur MLA Santosh Kataria in the presence of senior officials and prominent dignitaries.
SDM Sunil Phogat and District Sports Officer Vandna Chauhan were also present during the event.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Santosh Kataria highlighted the Punjab government's efforts to connect young people with sports and strengthen sports infrastructure across the state. She said that encouraging youth to participate in sports can channel their energy positively and help keep them away from drugs.
Kataria said the government is working towards establishing modern model playgrounds in villages across Punjab. The initiative aims to provide children and youngsters in rural areas with equal opportunities to develop their sporting talent and compete at national and international levels.
She further emphasized that sports are not only about winning medals but also play an important role in developing discipline, resilience, character, confidence and sportsmanship.
A number of national and international athletes participated in the rally to motivate local youth. The participants included international athlete Anamika, volleyball player Naveen, Manpreet Singh, Manjinder Singh, state-level athlete Anakshi, and badminton coach Raman.
After an overnight stay in SBS Nagar, the torch relay will proceed towards Jalandhar on August 21. The Mashal March is aimed at creating greater enthusiasm for sports and encouraging wider participation among Punjab's youth.
