TRAGIC END TO LOVE MARRIAGE IN CHANDIGARH; 21-YEAR-OLD FOUND DEAD, FAMILY ALLEGES MARITAL DISPUTE
Chandigarh, June 5:
A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Chandigarh, where a 21-year-old man was found hanging from a tree near the laundry area of PGI on Friday morning. The tragedy has left an entire family devastated and an 18-month-old child without his father.
The deceased, identified as Rajat, was originally from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh. He had entered into a love marriage in 2024 and was living with his wife and young son in a rented accommodation at Khudda Lahora. Rajat worked at a local laundry shop and frequently visited his parents, who reside in Janata Colony.
According to family members, Rajat visited his parents' home on Thursday night around 9:30 pm. After spending some time there, he left for his residence. Relatives revealed that he had taken a scarf from the house while leaving, unaware that it would later be used in the incident.
The following morning, passersby noticed a body hanging from a tree near the PGI laundry area and immediately informed the police. A team from the PGI police post reached the spot, recovered the body and initiated an investigation.
Family members have alleged that Rajat had been facing mental stress due to ongoing disputes with his wife, particularly regarding financial matters. They believe these tensions may have contributed to the tragic incident.
However, police officials have stated that no conclusion has been drawn at this stage. While the circumstances initially indicate suicide, authorities said the exact cause will be determined only after the post-mortem examination and completion of the investigation.
Police are currently recording statements from family members, the wife and other individuals connected to the case. All possible angles are being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
The incident has raised concerns about the impact of family conflicts and emotional distress, while leaving behind a young child who has lost his father's support at a very early age.
