Ludhiana District Court was put on high alert after a bomb threat email warned of an explosion during the National Lok Adalat

Ludhiana court receives bomb threat email

Ludhiana, September 12, 2026: A major security alert was triggered at the Ludhiana District Court on Friday after the District and Sessions Judge received a bomb threat through email during the ongoing National Lok Adalat. According to officials, the threatening email was received on September 12 on the official email ID of the District and Sessions Judge. The sender claimed links with extremist organisations and warned of a blast at the court complex at 1:11 pm.

Dog squads and bomb disposal teams deployed

Following the threat, police and security agencies launched an extensive search of the entire court complex. Dog squads and bomb disposal teams were deployed to check the premises and ensure the safety of judges, court staff, lawyers and members of the public attending the Lok Adalat. The District and Sessions Judge also informed the Ludhiana Police Commissioner through official communication and sought immediate security measures.

Email mentioned other possible targets

Officials said the email also contained threats beyond the Ludhiana court and Lok Adalat. It reportedly mentioned Mohali-Halwara Airport and referred to possible attacks on certain political leaders. The sender claimed links with the Khalistan National Army and Babbar Khalsa (Parmar-Canada). These claims are part of the threatening email and have not been independently established.

Police investigating threat

Police are investigating the source of the email and assessing the credibility of the threat. Security arrangements have been strengthened at the court complex while search and verification operations continue. Authorities remain on high alert to ensure the safety of everyone present at the court premises.
