Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba has been temporarily halted due to rain and snowfall in high-altitude areas, officials said.

Manimahesh Yatra stopped due to bad weather

Chamba, September 2026: The Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh’s Bharmour area has been temporarily stopped due to bad weather, with continuous rain and snowfall reported in high-altitude areas. Rain and snowfall have been reported around Manimahesh Dal Lake, Gaurikund, Sundarasi and nearby areas. The deteriorating weather has also made parts of the pilgrimage route slippery, increasing risks for pilgrims.

Administration appeals to pilgrims

The local administration has appealed to pilgrims not to proceed towards the Manimahesh route until weather conditions improve. Pilgrims have also been advised to wait for official updates before resuming their journey. ADM Bharmour Vikas Sharma said the safety of pilgrims remains the administration’s top priority. He said the temporary suspension was necessary in view of the continuing rain and snowfall.

Official updates to decide next step

The administration will review the weather conditions before taking a decision on resuming the pilgrimage. Officials have also advised pilgrims and others to rely on official communication and avoid spreading or following rumours. The temporary halt is aimed at reducing risks on the high-altitude route until conditions become safer.
