Monsoon activity weakens across Punjab
Chandigarh, August 29: Monsoon activity has weakened across Punjab and Chandigarh, leading to a rise in daytime heat and humidity. According to the weather department, there is currently no indication of widespread or heavy rainfall across the state.
A heavy rain warning is not in place until September 3, although isolated parts of Punjab could still receive light to moderate rainfall.
Rain likely in five Punjab districts
Light to moderate rain is likely in parts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Rupnagar on Saturday.
Several other parts of the state are likely to remain dry. As a result, weather conditions could vary significantly between districts over the next few days.
Bathinda records 39°C
During the past 24 hours, Chandigarh recorded a decline of around 0.9 degrees Celsius in its maximum temperature. Despite the fall, the temperature remained around 2 degrees above normal.
In Punjab, Bathinda recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39°C. Maximum temperatures in most other districts remained between 32.6°C and 36.4°C.
Little rain over most districts in recent days
Most parts of Punjab have remained without rainfall over the past two days. Rain was reported in Pathankot on August 28, although it was not officially recorded.
The latest weather conditions indicate that while isolated showers remain possible, the chances of widespread rainfall across Punjab are limited.
Monsoon trough continues to influence weather
The monsoon trough is passing through the Amritsar region, while an upper-air atmospheric system is present over northern Haryana.
These systems could trigger rainfall in some areas, but weather conditions are not currently favourable for widespread rain across the entire state.
Chandigarh may see clouds and isolated showers
Chandigarh is likely to remain partly cloudy, with isolated areas potentially receiving light rain or thunderstorms.
However, continuous or heavy rainfall is not expected across Punjab and Chandigarh at present. Some areas may remain dry, while rising daytime humidity could continue to make conditions uncomfortable.
