Chandigarh, August 26, 2026: The Panjab University Non-Teaching Employees Federation (PUNTEF) organised its fourth annual Saawan langar at Panjab University on Wednesday, bringing together university officials and a large number of non-teaching employees.
Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Meenakshi Goyal inaugurated the langar. Several senior university officials, staff representatives and employees attended the event.
Those present included Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Krishan Kumar, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor; Prof. Y.K. Rawal, Dean Student Welfare; Prof. Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Women); Dr. Vineet Punia, Director Public Relations; Mr. Anil Thakur, XEN; and Mr. Honey Thakur, President, Panjab University Staff Association.
Vice Chancellor Appreciates Employees’ Initiative
Prof. Meenakshi Goyal appreciated the initiative taken by the federation and praised the employees for organising the langar through their collective efforts.
She said such initiatives promote a spirit of community, togetherness and mutual goodwill among members of the university fraternity.
Employees Made Preparations Collectively
Welcoming the Vice Chancellor, Panjab University Staff Association President Honey Thakur said the langar was organised through the collective efforts of the non-teaching employees.
He added that the preparations for the event were carried out by the employees themselves.
The annual Saawan langar marked another community initiative by the university's non-teaching employees, with staff members coming together for the event.
