Punjab Cabinet Takes Key Decisions: PPSC Rules Amended, 231 Health Posts Approved

Chandigarh, September 5, 2026: The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Saturday approved a series of key decisions related to administrative reforms, healthcare staffing and preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement season.

The Cabinet approved amendments to the Group-A Regulations of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC)and sanctioned new posts in the Commission, including a Personal Assistant post linked to the Secretary’s office. The government said the changes are aimed at improving the functioning and efficiency of the Commission.

The Cabinet also approved the Annual Administrative Report of the Department of Information and Public Relations for 2025-26.

Paddy Procurement Policies Cleared

Ahead of the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27, the Cabinet approved the draft Punjab Custom Milling Policy.

It also cleared the Punjab Foodgrain Transportation Policy and the Punjab Foodgrain Labour and Cartage Policy.

According to the government, these policies will help streamline the lifting, transportation and handling of paddy arriving at procurement centres and mandis during the upcoming season.

33 New Posts for Chamkaur Sahib Hospital

The Cabinet approved the creation of 33 new posts for the Sub-Divisional Hospital at Chamkaur Sahib.

The move is aimed at strengthening medical services and ensuring the availability of adequate healthcare staff for patients visiting the hospital.

19 Posts Approved for Malerkotla

The Cabinet also approved 19 new posts for the Health Department in Malerkotla district.

The sanctioned positions include Civil Surgeon, Assistant Civil Surgeon and District Family Welfare Officer, among others, to strengthen the district's administrative and medical infrastructure.

80 Doctor and Dentist Vacancies to Be Filled

In another major healthcare decision, the Cabinet approved the filling of 80 vacant posts of doctors and dentists, including Medical Officers and Dental Officers.

In addition, 119 new posts were approved for the Sub-Divisional Hospital, Dhuri, and the newly established Mother and Child Health (MCH) Centre.

The Punjab Government said the decisions are aimed at strengthening administrative and healthcare infrastructure, creating employment opportunities and improving public service delivery across the state.
