The Punjab Government has changed the date of the gazetted holiday for Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) 2026. Earlier, the holiday was scheduled for May 27, 2026, but it will now be observed on May 28, 2026.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel on Monday, the decision has been taken in line with revised orders of the Government of India.
As per the notification, all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions across Punjab will remain closed on May 28 instead of May 27.
The order also states that the holiday will be applicable under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, meaning that banks and financial institutions across the state will also remain closed on this day.
The Punjab Government has implemented this change officially and has advised residents to plan their work and banking activities accordingly.
