Punjab-Chandigarh Weather: Rain Likely to Ease, 14 Districts May Get Showers Today
Chandigarh, September 7, 2026: Rainfall that has been continuing across several parts of Punjab and Chandigarh over the past few days is likely to ease now. The weather department has not issued any major rain warning for the week.
However, light to moderate rain is possible at some places in 14 districts of Punjab on Monday. Chandigarh is likely to remain cloudy through the day, which could lead to increased heat and humidity.
Rain Forecast in These Districts
According to the weather department, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar may receive light to moderate rainfall at some places.
Light to moderate showers are also possible at one or two places in Amritsar, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Mohali, Sangrur and Mansa.
Temperature Remains Near Normal
The maximum temperature in Punjab fell by 0.1 degree Celsius compared with the previous day and has now reached around normal levels.
Bathinda recorded the highest temperature in Punjab at 35.6°C, while Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 34.4°C.
With rainfall expected to decrease, heat and humidity may increase in some areas.
Rain Recorded in Several Districts
On Sunday, 4.5 mm of rain was recorded in Rupnagar, 7.5 mm in Pathankot, 0.5 mm in Ludhiana, 3 mm in Hoshiarpur, 0.5 mm in Ferozepur and 1 mm in Bathinda. Rain was also reported in Amritsar, although rainfall data was not available.
The monsoon trough is passing close to Punjab, which may bring light to moderate rain to several areas. A western disturbance is also active over Kashmir, while another system is developing at upper levels.
