Rain Likely Across Punjab and Chandigarh, Temperatures May Rise
Rain Forecast for Punjab and Chandigarh
Several parts of Punjab and Chandigarh are likely to receive rain on Friday, according to the Meteorological Centre.
Light to moderate showers are expected across several districts of Punjab. Chandigarh is likely to remain partly cloudy, with thunderstorms possible at one or two places.
Bathinda Records Highest Temperature
Punjab's average maximum temperature increased slightly by 0.3 degrees Celsius.
Bathinda remained the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 38°C.
Gurdaspur received the highest rainfall in Punjab, with 47.5 mm recorded.
Districts Likely to Receive Rain
Light to moderate rain is likely in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar, also known as Mohali.
Rain is also expected at a few places in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.
Similarly, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa and Sangrur may receive showers at a few places.
Monsoon Remains Active
The monsoon remains active over Punjab and Haryana. The monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, while a western disturbance is prevailing over North Pakistan and Jammu.
The weather system over Haryana has moved towards northwest Uttar Pradesh, while the system affecting Punjab has weakened.
Despite the weakening system, generally cloudy conditions and light to moderate rainfall are expected at many places in both states.
Dam Water Levels Below Danger Mark
Water levels in Punjab's dams remain below the danger mark despite continued rainfall activity across several parts of the state.
Authorities and concerned departments are continuing to monitor the situation as rainfall remains active in different areas.
Temperature Expected to Rise
Despite the possibility of rain, Punjab's average maximum temperature has increased slightly.
Weather conditions are expected to remain variable, with cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall in several areas while temperatures may continue to fluctuate.
