Ohm Convent School Students Make Rakhis for Soldiers, Send Message of Love and Respect
Kurukshetra: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Ohm Convent School in Kurukshetra witnessed a unique blend of patriotism and the bond of love associated with the festival. A special handmade Rakhi-making activity was organised to express gratitude and respect for soldiers deployed along the country’s borders.
Students from junior as well as senior classes participated enthusiastically in the activity. They prepared colourful and attractive Rakhis using silk threads, wool, decorative lace, beads and coloured paper. Rakhis based on the Tricolour theme were also prepared by several students and became a special attraction.
Along with the Rakhis, students also made greeting cards carrying messages of love, respect and gratitude for the soldiers. The children said that although they could not personally tie Rakhis on the wrists of soldiers, their handmade Rakhis would help convey a sense of affection and belonging to the troops serving away from their families.
The school will send the handmade Rakhis and greeting cards to soldiers deployed at the country’s borders through the postal department.
School Manager Shri Umashankar appreciated the efforts of the students and said such activities help strengthen the values of patriotism, social responsibility and respect for the soldiers who protect the nation.
He said soldiers remain away from their families and serve the country in difficult conditions. Such a small gesture by children can bring a smile to their faces while conveying a message of respect, affection and gratitude.
