Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence Pathankot arrests two suspects in a foreign-based targeted killing plot and recovers two .30 bore pistols and 10 live cartridges.

In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Pathankot has foiled a foreign-based targeted killing plot with the arrest of its two operatives and recovered two sophisticated .30 bore pistols along with 10 live cartridges from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.

Those arrested have been identified as Ravinder Singh alias Dhillon, a resident of Dhilwan in Batala and Jashanpreet Singh, a resident of village Bal in Gurdaspur. Apart from recovering pistols, police teams have also impounded their brand-new Splendor motorcycle, which was without a registration number.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused persons were working at the behest of a foreign-based handler and had recently arrived from Dubai to execute the assigned task.

The DGP said that further investigation is underway to uncover the backward and forward linkages of the network to identify other operatives connected with the foreign-based handlers.

Sharing operational details, AIG CI Pathankot Sukhminder Singh Mann said that there was a specific input that two motorcycle-borne persons were in possession of weapons and they were further moving from Gurdaspur to Batala to execute a target killing.

Acting swiftly on the information, the teams of CI Pathankot strategically cordoned off the area resulting in the arrest of both suspects— Ravinder Singh alias Dhillon and Jashanpreet Singh from the outskirts of Gurdaspur while they were travelling on their motorcycle, he said, while adding that during search, two .30 bore pistols along with 10 bullets were recovered from their possession.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 57 dated 10.09.2026 under section 25 of the Arms Act and section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
