23,757 Government Jobs With No Written Exam? India Post GDS Recruitment Opens Soon — Here’s What Matters

New Delhi, August 29: There is a major opportunity for candidates looking for a government job as India Post has announced recruitment for 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts.

The online application process will begin on August 31, 2026, while the last date to apply is September 19, 2026.

The big twist: No written exam

The biggest highlight of the recruitment is that candidates will not have to appear for a written examination.

Selection will be based on merit, with the merit list prepared using candidates’ Class 10 marks. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will subsequently be called for document verification.

Category-wise vacancy details

The 23,757 vacancies are divided across categories as follows:

  • General: 10,640

  • EWS: 2,160

  • OBC: 4,433

  • SC: 3,082

  • ST: 2,773

  • PwD-A: 192

  • PwD-B: 227

  • PwD-C: 178

  • PwD-DE: 72

Important application dates

Applications will open on August 31 and close on September 19, 2026.

Candidates can pay the online application fee between September 2 and September 21. A correction window will be available on September 23 and 24.
