Amit Shah to open national ANTF conference in New Delhi
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the third National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of States and Union Territories in New Delhi today.The two-day conference is being organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and will bring together ANTF heads from all 36 States and Union Territories, along with representatives of concerned government departments and other stakeholders.
NCB complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun
During the event, Shah will lay the foundation stones for new NCB Zonal Complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun. He will also release television commercials aimed at creating awareness about drug abuse.The event will also include recognition of the best-performing ANTF among the States and Union Territories and the launch of the revamped NCB website.
Focus on drug trafficking and synthetic drugs
Held under the theme “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility”, the conference will review progress on targets assigned to State and UT ANTFs under the Vision Document on Narcotics Control 2026-29.
Key issues on the agenda include dismantling drug cartels, tackling synthetic drugs and clandestine laboratories, and strengthening investigations involving the darknet and cryptocurrency.The conference will also examine strategies for supply reduction, demand reduction and harm reduction, along with measures to improve coordination between enforcement agencies.
Stronger coordination against the drug menace
The national conference is expected to provide a platform for States, Union Territories, central agencies and other stakeholders to review ongoing efforts and strengthen coordination.The government said the discussions are aimed at building a stronger and more future-ready partnership between the NCB and State/UT ANTFs, with a focus on tackling drug trafficking and substance abuse over the coming years.
