Arvind Kejriwal Challenges Modi Govt to Make Public Any Research Report on E20

Arvind Kejriwal Challenges Modi Govt to Make Public Any Research Report on E20

NEW DELHI:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal challenged the Modi Government to make public any scientific research report that formed the basis for implementing E20 fuel blending, asserting that no such study exists. He said the Centre imposed E20 without any scientific assessment and would similarly push E50, while those raising concerns are being intimidated into silence.

The AAP Chief pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is forcing ethanol on the country under pressure from US President Donald Trump, disregarding scientific evidence in the process. He further added that the Prime Minister has never valued science, engineering, or research and is driven solely by a hidden agenda. Warning that the government also plans to introduce diesel blending, he advised people to avoid purchasing new petrol or diesel vehicles for the next few years.

Addressing the issue, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “The Government of India has itself clarified that no decision has ‘yet’ been taken to increase ethanol blending in petrol beyond E20. It has stated that if such a proposal is considered in the future, it will only be after extensive scientific studies, technical testing and consultations with vehicle manufacturers, oil marketing companies and other stakeholders. The government also claims that E20 was not implemented in haste and that India’s ethanol blending programme has progressed in phases over more than two decades, with extensive testing and consultations before E20 was introduced.”

Responding to BJP leader Amit Malviya’s remarks, Arvind Kejriwal said, “You yourself are saying that no decision has been taken ‘yet’ on increasing ethanol blending beyond E20. You are only waiting for the public outrage to die down. The moment the situation cools, you will implement it. I am glad that you have admitted that no decision has been taken ‘yet’.”

Questioning the government’s claims, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Just as E20 was implemented without any scientific study, without listening to anyone and by intimidating those who raised concerns into silence, you will impose E50 in exactly the same manner. That is your style of functioning. You have never believed in science or engineering. If you conducted any scientific study before implementing E20, why don’t you make those reports public? Why are you hiding them?”

Referring to his post on X, Arvind Kejriwal said, “What exactly is the Modi Government’s plan? We are learning that it intends to increase ethanol blending in petrol to over 50 per cent. It is only waiting for the atmosphere to calm down before doing so. First, you forced E20 petrol into E0 and E10 vehicles and damaged them. Today, even if someone buys a new E20-compatible vehicle, the government will eventually force E50 petrol into it and damage that as well. The government is also planning to introduce ethanol blending in diesel. Therefore, people should avoid purchasing new petrol or diesel vehicles for the next few years.”

In another post on X, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “The government forced SIAM to withdraw its report. This is PM Modi’s typical style of functioning. PM Modi has never respected science, engineering or research. He is only interested in pursuing his hidden agenda. He is under pressure from US President Donald Trump to purchase ethanol from the United States. Unable to withstand that pressure, he is forcing ethanol on the entire country despite scientific evidence to the contrary.”

Modi Govt Planning to Blend Ethanol in Aviation Turbine Fuel Too: Arvind Kejriwal

Raising another concern, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “Sources indicate that the Modi Government is also planning to blend ethanol in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). Experts believe that such a move could pose a serious risk to flight safety.”
