Pakistan Hockey Federation has asked the Asian Hockey Federation to shift its Asian Champions Trophy

Pakistan seeks neutral venue for Asian Champions Trophy

September 16: Pakistan has asked the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) to either shift the 2026 Men’s Asian Champions Trophy out of India or arrange for all of Pakistan’s matches to be played at a neutral venue. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) cited the sensitive bilateral situation between India and Pakistan and prevailing security conditions behind its request.

What did Pakistan say?

PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani said the request was aimed at ensuring a safe and suitable environment for Pakistan’s players and officials. The PHF also said Pakistan remains committed to participating in the tournament and is prepared to play against India and other teams.

Tournament scheduled in Punjab

The Asian Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from October 27 to November 5, 2026, in Jalandhar and Mohali. Six teams — India, Pakistan, China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea — are set to participate. The India-Pakistan match is currently scheduled for November 1 in Jalandhar. The AHF's response to Pakistan's request will determine whether any changes are made to the existing venue arrangements.
