BRICS Summit 2026 concludes in New Delhi
New Delhi, September 13: The 18th BRICS Summit concluded in New Delhi on Sunday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressing the importance of cooperation, resilience and turning the grouping's decisions into concrete action. In his closing remarks at the two-day summit, PM Modi said BRICS' diversity should remain its identity, cooperation its inspiration and its progress should contribute to humanity.
PM Modi calls BRICS an ecosystem of solutions
The Prime Minister said BRICS is not merely a grouping of nations but an ecosystem of solutions. He said discussions during the summit had strengthened this understanding. PM Modi also expressed hope that the New Delhi Declaration adopted at the summit would provide clear direction for a shared vision and future cooperation among member countries. He stressed that the outcomes of the summit should be translated into time-bound actions that create an impact on the ground.
Focus on resilience and global challenges
Earlier, in his opening remarks, PM Modi said special emphasis had been placed on strengthening resilience within BRICS. He noted that pandemics, climate disasters and supply-chain disruptions have shown that in an interconnected world, no major crisis remains limited to one region. The summit therefore focused on strengthening cooperation among BRICS countries to respond more effectively to emerging global challenges.
India pushes for stronger BRICS cooperation
India's BRICS chairship has focused on cooperation in areas including development, technology, climate action, energy, trade and financial resilience. The summit also highlighted the role of BRICS in strengthening cooperation among emerging economies and advancing the interests of the Global South. With the conclusion of the 18th BRICS Summit, attention will now shift towards implementing the commitments and decisions outlined in the New Delhi Declaration.
