Punjab Health Schemes: CM Mann Calls for Massive Awareness Drive
Chandigarh, August 25, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed the Health Department to launch a massive awareness campaign to ensure that more eligible people benefit from the government's two flagship healthcare initiatives — Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY) and Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs).
The Chief Minister issued the directions while chairing a meeting to review the implementation and progress of both schemes on Tuesday.
6.11 Crore OPDs Recorded at 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics
Punjab currently has 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics, including 603 in rural areas and 487 in urban areas.
According to the government, these clinics have recorded 6.11 crore OPDs so far, while 1.91 crore unique patients have visited the clinics for the first time to avail free treatment.
Around 93,000 patients visit Aam Aadmi Clinics every day, with an average of 86 OPDs being recorded at each clinic daily.
Mann said the data generated through the clinics is also helping the government understand disease patterns across different districts and plan healthcare interventions accordingly.
107 Medicines Available Free of Cost
The Chief Minister said 107 medicines are being provided free of cost at Aam Aadmi Clinics.
Of the patients visiting these clinics, 53.7% are women and 46.3% are men, according to the data shared during the review meeting.
Over 1.25 Crore Beneficiaries Covered Under Sehat Yojna
Reviewing the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, Mann said more than 50 lakh households covering over 1.25 crore beneficiaries have been brought under the scheme so far.
More than 5.90 lakh beneficiaries have already received free treatment under the scheme at 892 empanelled hospitals.
These include 223 government and 669 private hospitals.
The government said 68% of the beneficiaries under the scheme belong to rural areas, while the remaining 32% are from urban areas.
CM Calls for Wider Awareness
Mann stressed the need for sustained and extensive public awareness campaigns so that more eligible people register under the schemes and make use of the available healthcare benefits.
He said the response to both initiatives has been encouraging, but greater outreach is needed to ensure that the benefits reach more people across Punjab.
The Chief Minister also said he would personally undertake a major campaign involving direct interaction with stakeholders associated with the schemes. The initiative is aimed at strengthening implementation and addressing issues faced by beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Ravi Bhagat, Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul and other senior officers attended the meeting.
