CM Nayab Singh Saini Inaugurates Electric Bus Depot in Panipat, Flags Off 80 E-Buses

Chandigarh, May 28:
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday inaugurated a modern Electric Bus Depot in Panipat and flagged off 80 electric city buses, giving a major push to green and sustainable public transport in the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Haryana has entered a new era of clean, environment-friendly and modern transportation from the historic city of Panipat. He informed that out of the 80 electric buses launched, 40 buses have been allotted to Panipat, 15 to Yamunanagar, 10 each to Kurukshetra and Sonipat, and 5 to Panchkula.

He said the electric buses are not just vehicles, but the beginning of a cleaner and more convenient future for Haryana. A state-of-the-art electric bus depot has been developed in Panipat at a cost of nearly Rs 7 crore. Similar depots are also being constructed in eight other districts of the state.

The Chief Minister said the Haryana Government is committed to strengthening public transport and implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Green India, Net Zero and Sustainable Development.

He added that electric buses will help reduce pollution, cut dependence on petrol and diesel and provide safe, comfortable and affordable travel facilities to the public.

Nayab Singh Saini also announced that students will soon get bus pass facilities in Haryana’s electric buses, similar to Haryana Roadways services.

He further informed that the government is working on integrating buses with a digital tracking system, allowing passengers to check bus locations and arrival timings through a mobile application.

The Chief Minister said more electric buses will be introduced across Haryana and 10 new electric bus stands will be built within one year. With the addition of the new fleet, the total number of electric buses in Haryana has now increased to 155.

Several dignitaries, including Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia and BJP State President Archana Gupta, were present on the occasion.
