Nayab Saini Meets PM Modi, Discusses Haryana Development and Investment
Chandigarh, August 27, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Seva Teerth in Delhi on Thursday and held a detailed discussion on the development of the state, industrial investment, the new Industrial Policy and various ongoing projects.
After the meeting, Saini briefed the media at Haryana Bhawan and said the Prime Minister was apprised of the state’s development initiatives and received guidance on various issues.
₹5 Lakh Crore Investment Target Under New Industrial Policy
Saini said the Haryana government has set a target of attracting investment worth ₹5 lakh crore over the next five yearsunder its recently launched New Industrial Policy and nine sectoral policies.
According to the Chief Minister, investment proposals worth around ₹1.10 lakh crore came in on the day the policy was launched, of which approximately ₹25,000 crore has already been grounded.
He also briefed the Prime Minister about the state’s recent engagement with Japan. MoUs worth around ₹4,500 crorewere signed during the visit, with projects worth approximately ₹2,500 crore already grounded, he said.
The Chief Minister also shared details of the MSME Policy and said MoUs worth around ₹66,000 crore were signed during a meeting with leading industrialists in Mumbai this month.
Gurugram Waterlogging Action Plan
Saini also discussed the issue of waterlogging in Gurugram and outlined measures being taken by the state government.
He said Gurugram received around 230 mm of rainfall on August 6, 7 and 8, while intense rainfall on August 24 caused waterlogging in some areas. According to him, the situation returned to normal in around two hours due to improvements in the drainage system.
The Chief Minister said the government has identified 99 waterlogging points, with water-harvesting wells installed at most of these locations. He said around 13,000 metric litres of rainwater has been recharged through these wells.
He also highlighted the construction of a new drain at Hero Honda Chowk on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway, removal of encroachments and cleaning work in Leg-1, Leg-2 and Leg-3. Leg-4 has also been made operational, he said.
Check Dams, Rainwater Harvesting Projects
According to Saini, check dams have been constructed in the Aravalli foothills to control the flow of water from hilly areas.
He said 74 old ponds and water bodies have also been systematically restored as part of efforts to improve water management in Gurugram.
A survey is currently being conducted by Japanese company Nippon Koei, after which a plan will be prepared to divert water from low-lying areas of Gurugram towards the Yamuna through Nuh.
The government has also started a rainwater harvesting project in collaboration with IIT Delhi. Under the project, 100 structures are planned before the next monsoon season, with the aim of recharging around 25 to 30 crore litres of groundwater during the monsoon.
