Hockey India has unveiled a strong 24-member Junior Women’s Hockey squad for a high-intensity exposure tour of the United Kingdom, running from July 5th to 14th. This nine-day trip is a vital stepping stone for the young team as they sharpen their skills and build chemistry ahead of major international assignments, most notably the upcoming Junior Asia Cup.
Beyond the matches themselves, the tour marks an exciting new chapter for the team under recently appointed coach Tim White. It offers him his first real-game opportunity to test tactical setups, experiment with player combinations, and see how the squad holds up against different international styles of play.
Led by Khaidem Shileima Chanu: A Mix of Promise and Grit
The young Indian side will be captained by midfielder Khaidem Shileima Chanu, a player known for her composure and vision on the pitch. The selectors have put together a well-rounded lineup, ensuring the team has the depth and stamina needed to push through a demanding schedule of seven matches in just under ten days.
Holding the line at the back will be goalkeepers Nidhi and Engil Harsha Rani Minz. They will be supported by a determined defensive unit featuring Pooja Sahoo, Supriya, Madhu, F. Lalbi Aksiami, Lalneihpuii, and Parwati Topno.
Captain Chanu will anchor a quick, hardworking midfield alongside Tanuja Toppo, Supriya Kujur, Pooja Malik, Binima Dhan, Geeta Yadav, Roshni Aind, and Tanushree Dinesh Kadu. Up front, the responsibility of creating scoring chances and converting inside the striking circle falls to a lively forward line consisting of Sukhveer Kaur, Shashi Khasa, Lalrinpuii, Nisha Minj, Purnima Yadav, Kajal, Sanika Chandrakant Mane, and Krishna Sharma.
Seven Tough Tests Across Scotland and England
The tour’s itinerary has been carefully designed to give the young team a taste of both senior international hockey and elite, peer-level competition.
The Scottish Challenge: The journey begins at the University of Edinburgh, where the Indian junior side will face a steep learning curve in two back-to-back matches against Scotland’s Senior Women’s National Team. Playing against an experienced senior side will provide an immediate test of the juniors' physical strength and defensive discipline.
The Lilleshall Leg: From there, the team moves to the historic Lilleshall National Sports Centre in England. They will play five matches against some of the world’s best junior setups, taking on the United States, Belgium, and the host nation, England.

With the Junior Asia Cup looming, this European tour highlights Hockey India's focus on nurturing the next generation of talent.
