IMD Issues Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Alert for Bihar and Odisha
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for Bihar and Odisha on Tuesday, warning that the intense spell of rain is likely to continue until tomorrow. The department has advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as heavy showers may lead to waterlogging and disrupt normal life.
According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected over parts of Northeast India, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim during the day. The active monsoon conditions are expected to keep weather activity high across these regions.
The weather department has further predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Karnataka and Odisha. People have been advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in isolated parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh despite the ongoing monsoon activity in several other regions.
In the national capital, Delhi witnessed light morning showers, bringing temporary relief from humid weather. The city is expected to experience cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain later in the day.
The IMD has urged people to stay updated with the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall, flooding and lightning.
