India defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second T20 International at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a target of 160 runs, India produced a dominant batting performance and reached 163 for 3 in just 14.5 overs. The chase was led by Sanju Samson, who smashed a blistering 57 runs off 22 balls. Abhishek Sharma also played an aggressive knock, scoring 39 runs from 19 balls.
Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 38 off 23 balls and finished the chase in style, helping India comfortably cross the target with plenty of overs to spare.
Afghanistan Post 159 for 8
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field first. Afghanistan scored 159 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Ibrahim Zadran emerging as their top scorer. He made 37 runs off 33 balls but could not convert his start into a bigger innings.
India's bowlers kept the Afghan batters under pressure throughout the innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets.
Reddy's all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
India Seal Series Before Final Match
With the victory, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead and secured the three-match T20I series. The third and final match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi tomorrow.
