More Rain Ahead? INSAT-3DS Satellite Shows Massive Monsoon Cloud Build-Up
New Delhi: India's monsoon pattern is showing increasing regional variation, with an INSAT-3DS satellite imagecapturing a large build-up of monsoon clouds over eastern and central parts of the country. The cloud formation indicates that rainfall activity is likely to remain active over several eastern regions in the coming days.
The satellite image shows a broad band of clouds stretching from central India towards Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and the northeastern states. Significant cloud activity is also visible over parts of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Eastern India Likely to Remain Wetter
Weather projections indicate that eastern India is likely to continue witnessing rainfall activity, while parts of northwest India, western India and much of the southern region may remain comparatively dry.
The uneven distribution highlights the changing nature of the monsoon, with rainfall becoming increasingly concentrated over specific parts of the country.
Rain Activity May Continue Into September
The active monsoon phase over eastern India is expected to continue through the first two weeks of September. Several spells of moderate to heavy rainfall could affect parts of the region during this period.
The intensity and location of rainfall will depend on the movement and strength of low-pressure systems and other atmospheric circulations.
Fresh Rain Spell Possible in Delhi-NCR
Delhi-NCR could also witness another spell of scattered rainfall. Increasing cloud cover and convective activity during the day may trigger isolated showers and thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening.
Rainfall in the region could remain highly localised. While some parts of the National Capital Region may receive heavy showers, nearby areas could see little or no rain.
Northwest, West and South May Stay Relatively Dry
Compared with the eastern belt, relatively drier conditions are likely across parts of northwest, western and southern India.
The latest satellite view provides a snapshot of the shifting monsoon pattern across the country. While large cloud clusters continue to dominate the eastern and central belt, rainfall remains unevenly distributed across India.
