NHAI to Upgrade 1033 National Highway Helpline With AI, Real-Time Tracking
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will upgrade its existing 1033 National Highway Helpline with advanced technology to provide faster and more efficient assistance to people travelling on National Highways.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the upgraded helpline will use Artificial Intelligence (AI), real-time location tracking and smart emergency-response systems.
The new technology will help the 1033 helpline identify callers’ locations, understand calls in different Indian languages and quickly send the appropriate assistance to the required location.
However, human operators will continue to play an important role, particularly during emergencies where human judgement and decision-making are required.
1033 Helpline Available 24x7
The 1033 helpline was launched in 2018 and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides assistance to National Highway users during medical emergencies and vehicle breakdowns.
The service also helps users access ambulances, cranes and highway patrol vehicles, besides addressing toll plaza and FASTag-related issues.
The helpline currently covers more than 1.46 lakh kilometres of National Highways and provides assistance in multiple Indian languages.
