Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday reviewed the ongoing restoration work in the Pune-Mumbai ghat section following severe landslides that caused major damage to railway infrastructure and surrounding areas.
The Railway Minister said that the landslides have been severe and the damage to the railway line is significant. Teams from Central Railway and Western Railway are working together in close coordination to restore normal operations at the earliest.
Mr Vaishnaw informed that one railway line in the affected section has already been restored. The Railways has decided to operate all trains on this line with two locomotives as a precautionary measure.
He added that railway teams are coordinating with district authorities and the Forest Department to speed up restoration work and ensure safe movement of trains.
