Reviews operations, infrastructure & sanitation standards of all veterinary hospitals & dispensaries

In a push to further strengthen the state's animal healthcare, Punjab's Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, on Friday, directed veterinary officers, inspectors and other staff to ensure accountable service delivery to public, warning that any dereliction of duty will face stringent disciplinary action.

Chairing a review meeting at the Livestock Complex in SAS Nagar, S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian undertook a detailed assessment of the operations, infrastructure and sanitation standards of all veterinary hospitals and dispensaries across the state.

Voicing strong displeasure at the poor condition of certain facilities, the Minister ordered the Director of Animal Husbandry to initiate urgent repairs and upgrades to buildings, maintenance and essential services, with strict adherence to a stipulated timeframe.

 S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian issued clear instructions that every veterinary institution must have 24x7 electricity and safe drinking water. Highlighting the need for reliable cold storage for vaccines, he warned that lapses in vaccine storage would lead to direct accountability of the officials and staff concerned.

“Livestock owners must get timely and dignified services without any hassle. Officers and staff must be punctual in duty and ensure that all welfare schemes are delivered to beneficiaries promptly and without discrimination or evasion," S. Khudian asserted.

The Animal Husbandry Minister warned all officials and staff that negligence, absenteeism, delay in duties, or pending public grievances would not be tolerated and would attract strict disciplinary action as per service rules. There will be no room for complacency or leniency.
