Chamkaur Sahib Is a Timeless Beacon of Sacrifice, Courage and Service: Nayab Singh Saini
Chandigarh, September 3, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib in Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab, and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Haryana as well as stronger bonds of brotherhood between Haryana and Punjab.
During his visit, Saini announced ₹21 lakh for the construction of a historic gate named after Amar Shaheed Bibi Sharan Kaur.
Addressing the Sangat, the Chief Minister described Chamkaur Sahib as a sacred land associated with sacrifice, martyrdom, honour, courage and service. He recalled the supreme sacrifice of Sahibzadas Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Saini Recalls Bibi Sharan Kaur’s Courage
Saini said Bibi Sharan Kaur demonstrated extraordinary courage and a spirit of service by performing the last rites of the Sahibzadas after their martyrdom in 1704.
He said her life is an example of the courage and contribution of women and stressed the importance of passing the values and teachings of the Gurus to younger generations.
According to the Chief Minister, children should be encouraged not only to achieve success but also to develop strong values and character.
₹100 Crore Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra
Saini also highlighted initiatives taken by the Haryana Government to promote the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
He said the state organised programmes for a month to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. A grand Samagam was also organised in Kurukshetra, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects.
The Chief Minister said the Haryana Government is constructing a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra at a cost of ₹100 crore to disseminate the messages and teachings of the Gurus.
CM Highlights Haryana Government Schemes
Saini also spoke about his government’s welfare and farmer-focused initiatives. He said 70 of the 217 election commitments have been fulfilled within one-and-a-half years.
He highlighted schemes related to women, MSP procurement, crop compensation, Ayushman Bharat and subsidised LPG cylinders. According to him, Haryana procures all crops from farmers at MSP and payments generally reach farmers within 72 hours of procurement.
The Chief Minister also said that crop damage assistance of ₹16,500 crore has been provided to farmers so far, while ₹200 crore has been transferred under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.
Call to Preserve the Legacy of the Sahibzadas
Saini said society has a responsibility to ensure that younger generations remain connected with the history and sacrifices of great personalities and martyrs.
He appealed to people to draw inspiration from the Sahibzadas and Bibi Sharan Kaur and incorporate courage, service and devotion to righteousness into their lives.
