BJP Backs August 27 ‘Maha Strike’ by Punjab Employees and Pensioners Over Pending DA
Chandigarh: The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended its support to the August 27 ‘Maha Strike’ announced by government employees and pensioners over the issue of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) dues.
Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said employees and pensioners had been raising the issue of their pending dues for some time and that the proposed action reflected their demand for a resolution to the matter.
BJP Highlights Employees’ Pending DA Demand
Dhillon said the employees and pensioners had repeatedly placed their concerns before the government and urged that the issue of pending DA be addressed at the earliest.
He also referred to court proceedings related to the matter, saying that judicial directions had been issued regarding the release of pending DA. He said the government had subsequently pursued the matter before the appropriate appellate forum.
Call for Resolution Through Due Process
The BJP leader urged the state government to consider the concerns of employees and pensioners and take appropriate steps for resolving the issue in accordance with the applicable court directions and established procedures.
He said employees and pensioners who have served the state for several years expect financial security and timely resolution of their legitimate dues.
The BJP’s support comes ahead of the August 27 collective leave and ‘Maha Strike’, which has been announced by employee and pensioner organisations over their pending demands.
