Punjab Elections 2027: BSP Announces Solo Contest, No Alliance

BSP chief Mayawati has announced that the party will contest the upcoming Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly elections independently.

BSP to Go Solo in Punjab, UP and Uttarakhand Assembly Elections: Mayawati

Chandigarh/Lucknow, August 26, 2026: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has announced that her party will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand independently, ruling out an electoral alliance with other major parties.

The decision was announced as Mayawati reviewed the party’s preparations and organisational position in the three states. The move comes ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, with the party looking to strengthen its organisational base and electoral presence.

No Alliance with Congress, AAP or BJP

Mayawati said the BSP would contest the elections on its own strength and would not enter into an electoral pact with the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or BJP.

She said the decision was aimed at protecting the party’s vote base and strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level. The BSP leadership has also asked party workers and office-bearers to intensify preparations for the upcoming polls.

Focus on Strengthening Party Organisation

Mayawati has called upon the party cadre to work towards strengthening the BSP organisation at the grassroots level and prepare for the elections independently.

The BSP is also preparing to observe the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram on October 9 on a large scale, according to the information provided by the party.

The decision to go solo puts the BSP on an independent electoral path in all three states as the party seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
