Taking forward Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s call for energy conservation, environmental protection and the vision of a Viksit Bharat, the Haryana Government has initiated concrete steps to transform the appeal into a mass movement. In this direction, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday undertook a bicycle ride to spread awareness about fuel conservation, environmental protection and healthy living. The Chief Minister visited Chandigarh Sukhna Lake in the morning, where he interacted with people who had come for morning walks and gave the message of Interacts with morning walkers at Sukhna Lake, gave call for 'Swasth Bharat, Swasth Haryana'. The Chief Minister said that in view of the prevailing global situation and developments in the Middle East, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to contribute towards energy conservation. He said the Prime Minister has urged people to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, adopt safe travel practices, make greater use of electric vehicles and contribute towards environmental protection through public participation. Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Haryana Government has also issued a Standard Operating Procedure at the state level in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal. Under this, decisions have been taken to encourage virtual meetings, promote work-from-home options and prioritise energy conservation in government functioning. He said various awareness programmes and campaigns would also be undertaken to connect people with this initiative. The Chief Minister said that the vision of a Viksit Bharat is not solely the responsibility of the government but a collective responsibility of every citizen. He also appealed to the Opposition to rise above politics and join hands with the people in strengthening the Prime Minister’s resolve for a developed India. Referring to the Covid period, the Chief Minister said that when Prime Minister appealed to the people for cooperation during the crisis, the entire nation responded collectively and India successfully overcame that difficult phase. Similarly, he said, if citizens come forward with a sense of responsibility towards energy conservation and environmental protection, the country will successfully overcome every challenge.
