C.R. Patil Gets Charge as Punjab BJP Election In-Charge Ahead of 2027 Assembly Polls
New Delhi/Chandigarh, August 21, 2026: Union Jal Shakti Minister and senior BJP leader C.R. Patil has been appointed as the Punjab BJP election in-charge ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
Following his appointment, Patil has become actively involved in meetings and discussions concerning Punjab as the BJP intensifies its organisational and electoral preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls.
Known for his organisational and election-management experience, Patil is expected to play a significant role in coordinating the party’s election strategy, strengthening the organisational structure and assessing the evolving political situation in Punjab.
The BJP has already initiated preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, with the party looking to expand its organisational footprint and emerge as a major political force in the state. The party has also indicated that it intends to contest the Punjab Assembly elections independently.
Alongside his political responsibilities, Patil, in his capacity as Union Jal Shakti Minister, has been involved in meetings concerning Punjab’s water-related issues. Discussions involving Punjab and Haryana have included matters related to the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and other inter-state water issues.
Patil has also chaired meetings with Punjab officials and ministers on issues concerning rural sanitation and the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.
