Delhi BJP workers protested against AAP councillor Vijay Kumar over an MCD sanitation worker’s suicide, demanding action, resignation and his expulsion.

BJP workers staged a protest in Delhi on Sunday against Aam Aadmi Party councillor Vijay Kumar, demanding action against him in connection with the suicide of an MCD sanitation worker. The protesters also sought his removal from the party.

The demonstration was held at Windsor Place Circle on Ferozeshah Road, where BJP leaders raised allegations of financial exploitation, threats and other wrongdoing against the councillor. The allegations relate to the death of sanitation worker Deepak, a resident of Trilokpuri.

According to police reports, an FIR was registered against Vijay Kumar at Kalyanpuri police station on September 14on allegations of abetment of suicide. The case followed a complaint by Deepak’s wife. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and the financial dispute.

The BJP has alleged that Deepak had approached the councillor for help in arranging a house and that a loan of around Rs 15 lakh was allegedly retained by the councillor. The party has also alleged that Deepak’s signed cheque book was kept and that there were disputes over his salary and money. These are allegations and are subject to investigation.

The protest was attended by BJP MP Yogender Chandolia, Delhi BJP vice-president Rajesh Bhatia, Sunil Yadav and other party functionaries.

The BJP has demanded a fair investigation, action against those found responsible and the expulsion of Vijay Kumar from the AAP. The party has also been seeking the resignation of the councillor.

Vijay Kumar has denied the allegations, saying that he did not arrange any loan for the sanitation worker and that he was being falsely implicated. The police investigation is continuing.
