Jasvir Singh Garhi Resigns as SC Commission ChairmanChandigarh,
August 28, 2026: Jasvir Singh Garhi, who was recently appointed by the Aam Aadmi Party as in-charge of the Chamkaur Sahib Assembly constituency, has resigned as chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission.
Garhi disclosed the decision in Chandigarh on Friday, saying he had submitted his resignation from the post on the evening of August 26. The AAP announced his appointment as Chamkaur Sahib in-charge a day later, on August 27.
Garhi Thanks Arvind Kejriwal
Garhi thanked AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal for assigning him the responsibility of strengthening the party's organisation in Chamkaur Sahib ahead of the upcoming elections.
Chamkaur Sahib is the Assembly constituency associated with former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Garhi said he was outside Punjab when the party announced his new responsibility and, therefore, was unable to respond to phone calls at the time.
