Addressing the concerns raised by the employee representatives, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema reiterated that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has already taken a policy decision to regularise contractual employees and convert outsourced workers into contractual employees. He informed that the implementation process is currently underway.

“The government is committed to safeguarding the interests of employees. All genuine demands will be addressed on priority, and the concerned departments have been directed to accelerate the implementation process,” said Cheema.

The Finance Minister instructed administrative officers of the respective departments, along with officials from the Personnel and Finance Departments, to fast-track procedures related to employee welfare and grievance redressal. He emphasized that unnecessary delays should be avoided and all legitimate employee issues should be resolved at the earliest.

As Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to address employee-related concerns, Harpal Singh Cheema held detailed discussions with representatives from the All Punjab DST/CTS Contract Instructor Union, Punjab Raj Sarkari Sahayata Prapt School Adhyapak ate Hor Karmchari Union, Adarsh School Teaching and Non-Teaching Malazam Union, Theka Mulazam Sangharsh Morcha, Punjab Roadways/PUNBUS PRTC Contract Workers Union, and Punjab Roadways (PUNBUS) State Transport Worker Union.

Representatives from various unions presented their demands and concerns during the meeting. The Finance Minister assured them that the government is sensitive to employees' issues and remains committed to resolving them through dialogue and administrative action.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with employee unions expressing hope for the timely implementation of the assurances provided by the state government.
