No BJP-SAD Alliance in Punjab? Kewal Singh Dhillon Says BJP Will Go Solo

Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon has ruled out an alliance with SAD, saying the BJP will contest all seats in the state on its own.

Punjab BJP Rules Out SAD Alliance, Says It Will Contest All Seats: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Jalandhar, August 25: Amid continuing speculation over a possible BJP-SAD alliance in Punjab, state BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon has ruled out any such arrangement, saying the party will contest all seats in the state on its own.

Dhillon said the BJP would not enter into an alliance with any political party for the upcoming elections.

“No alliance will be made with anyone. The BJP will contest all seats in Punjab on its own,” he said.

BJP Claims Growing Support in Rural Punjab

The Punjab BJP chief also claimed that the party was receiving strong support in rural areas of the state.

Rural Punjab has traditionally been considered an important support base for regional political parties. Dhillon said the BJP was now gaining support beyond its traditional areas of influence.

He said the people of Punjab had already given the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi Partyopportunities to form governments and would now give the BJP a chance to govern the state.

Dhillon Raises Development Issue

Dhillon also linked Punjab's development performance to the absence of a BJP government in the state.

He said the BJP was currently in power in 22 states across the country, while Punjab had not yet elected a BJP government.

“Punjab has lagged behind in development because there is no BJP government here,” Dhillon said.

He further claimed that Punjab had slipped to the 22nd position on development parameters. The development-related figures were part of Dhillon's remarks.

BJP-SAD Alliance Speculation

Dhillon's statement comes amid renewed political speculation over the possibility of a BJP-SAD alliance in Punjab.

The BJP and SAD had been long-time allies before ending their alliance ahead of the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

With the Punjab BJP chief now categorically stating that the party will contest all seats independently, the statement adds clarity to the BJP's stated electoral position at this stage.
