PU Student Elections 2026: Focus on Gen-Z Voters, Hostel Meetings Intensify; Thar Convoys Draw Attention
The election atmosphere at Panjab University in Chandigarh has intensified following the announcement of the PU Student Elections. The university has scheduled the student elections for August 31.

Thar Convoys Become a Symbol of Show of Strength
Thar vehicles and other expensive SUVs have become a visible feature of the election campaign.
Convoys of SUVs belonging to candidates and their supporters have been spotted around PU, DAV College and SD College. Several vehicles reportedly carry election stickers.
The vehicle convoys are being viewed as an attempt to display political strength and support, prompting increased police vigilance.
Police Intensify Checking
With election activity increasing, police have stepped up security around the university and nearby colleges.
Vehicle checking and barricading have been intensified at sensitive locations. During checking at PU, police reportedly found sticks, hockey sticks, baseball bats and sickles in some vehicles.
Following the reported recoveries, surveillance has been increased around sensitive areas.
Security Checkpoint Outside DAV College
A security checkpoint has been set up outside DAV College in Sector 10. Vehicles are being checked as part of security arrangements.
Police personnel are keeping a close watch on suspicious vehicles, while additional forces have been deployed at sensitive locations to prevent any untoward incident during the election period.
Hand Fans Used for Campaigning at SD College
Election campaigning at SD College has also taken an interesting turn, with reports that one candidate distributed hand fans among students.
Sweets were also reportedly distributed on August 15. The distribution of hand fans during the hot weather is being viewed as an outreach and campaign strategy aimed at connecting with students.
