Ludhiana, August 25, 2026: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has supported the demand for parole for Jagtar Singh Hawara, saying that parole is a legal right.

Warring made the remarks while speaking informally to reporters in Ludhiana after paying homage to late Radhey Shyam Malhotra on his martyrdom anniversary.

Responding to a question about the demand for Hawara’s parole, the Punjab Congress chief said there was nothing wrong if Hawara was granted parole.

Raja Warring Pays Tribute to Radhey Shyam Malhotra

Warring paid tributes to Radhey Shyam Malhotra, who was killed by militants 39 years ago.

He said the Congress had made significant sacrifices during the fight against terrorism in Punjab and had worked to protect the state’s unity and harmony.

Warring also said that some divisive forces were once again attempting to raise their head in Punjab. He expressed confidence that people of Punjab would reject such forces and preserve the unity and harmony for which the state has been known.

Supports Statue Demand for Malhotra

The Ludhiana MP also supported the demand for installing a statue of late Radhey Shyam Malhotra.

He said memorials should be built to honour those who sacrificed their lives so that people could live in peace and harmony.

Warring Confident of Congress Return in Punjab

Speaking about the political situation in Punjab, Warring said the Congress was on a strong footing in the state and was ahead of other parties.

He claimed that the party’s rank and file was united around the objective of defeating the Aam Aadmi Party government and forming the next government in Punjab.

Warring also addressed a series of public meetings across the Ludhiana parliamentary constituency. He said there was strong enthusiasm among Congress workers ahead of the elections and alleged that people wanted a change from the AAP government.
