Sukhbir Badal Does Not Appear Before SIT in Behbal Kalan Firing, Sacrilege Cases

Sukhbir Singh Badal skips SIT questioning in Behbal Kalan firing and sacrilege cases, citing medical reasons and seeking time after September 30.

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal did not appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Behbal Kalan firing and sacrilege cases, citing medical reasons.

According to party leaders, Badal has sought more time and requested that he be called after September 30. They said he is scheduled to undergo a medical examination and therefore could not appear before the SIT as required.

Akali Dal Chief Spokesperson and Legal Cell Chairman Arshdeep Singh Kler and senior leader Bunty Romana told the media that Badal has also been seeking a written questionnaire from the SIT. They said the demand was once again raised before the investigating team.

The party leaders accused the AAP government in Punjab of using the matter for political purposes. The allegations were made by the Akali leaders, while the SIT is investigating the cases.

The development comes as the investigation into the Behbal Kalan firing and sacrilege cases continues.
